It is a long day by design: you leave around 1:30 am, sleep on the coach through the Eastern Desert and reach Giza in the morning, so you spend the whole daylight in Cairo before the drive back. Bring a light jacket for the coach and sun protection for the plateau.
At Giza you walk among the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure and see the Great Sphinx, then stop at the panoramic viewpoint for the classic three-pyramid photo. After a local lunch you visit the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, then browse Khan El Khalili before the return drive.
